Set up DBA Voice on your Mac

Follow the screenshots, one step at a time.

Follow these steps on the Mac that showed the warning.

Changing settings on a different Mac will not change the affected Mac.

Move it to Applications

Double-click the downloaded file (.tar.xz), then move the extracted DBA Voice app to Applications. No extra extraction app is needed.

Unpacking takes longer than the ZIP. Wait for it to finish, then open DBA Voice from Applications.

If you already downloaded the ZIP or DMG, keep using it; no new download is needed. Open the ZIP and move DBA Voice to Applications, or open the DMG and drag DBA Voice to Applications.

Requires an Apple Silicon Mac with macOS 26 or later. Download and requirements

Dismiss the warning

If macOS says DBA Voice was not opened because Apple could not verify it, choose Done to dismiss the warning.

This early release has not been notarized by Apple. Check that you downloaded it from this website before continuing.

Allow DBA Voice to open

Use the same Mac that showed the warning.

Scroll down the list on the right

Open System Settings → Privacy & Security. Scroll the content on the right down to Security.

Choose Open Anyway for DBA Voice

Find the DBA Voice row immediately below Allow applications from. Choose Open Anyway on its right.

On macOS 26, you may first see Open, followed by Open Anyway. Follow the confirmation to open the app. If macOS asks for your password or Touch ID, complete that step yourself.

If you cannot find Open Anyway

A warning on another Mac does not create a permission row here. The override is available for about an hour after you try to open the app.

On the Mac that showed the warning, open DBA Voice from Applications again. Dismiss the warning, then immediately check this settings screen.

If the option is still missing, check the macOS version, the exact warning and where you opened DBA Voice. A managed work Mac may require help from its administrator.

Try voice input

After opening DBA Voice, allow access in these two places:

System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone → turn DBA Voice on.
System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility → turn DBA Voice on.

Click a blank text field, such as a new note. Hold the right Option key while saying「明日の会議は午後3時です」, then release the key. Check that the recognized text appears in the field.

To tidy up spoken corrections with AI

Enable Apple Intelligence on your Mac. In DBA Voice settings, use「文字起こし後の整え方」→「AIで言い直しを整える」. If AI is unavailable, speech recognition and basic text cleanup still work.

New cloud account registration is in preparation. Local voice input works without registering.

Help me finish setting up DBA Voice 0.13.4 on the Mac I am using now, through to entering a short spoken sentence as text. This is my own device. I authorize the necessary checks, placing and opening the app, and the macOS permissions specific to DBA Voice. Continue without repeating steps that are already complete. I will enter passwords and use Touch ID myself.

First checks
- Confirm that the Mac you can actually operate is the Mac on which I will use DBA Voice. Do not treat screens, settings or results from another Mac as evidence about this one.
- An Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later) and macOS 26 or later are required. Check only the chip name and macOS version in About This Mac. You do not need a serial number or a full system report. If a requirement is missing, explain it; do not update macOS or change the speech model on your own.
- If you have screen-control tools, inspect the actual screen. Otherwise, do not pretend to see it: guide me through the controls in small steps. Ask me only when the actual display is unknown or an action must be performed by me.

Distribution files and installation
- The official page is https://dbajapan.com/dba-voice/en/ . First check Downloads and Applications for an existing DBA Voice copy. Do not download it again if I already have it. If it is elsewhere, ask only for its location.
- The lightweight archive is DBA-Voice-Mac.tar.xz, 1344471720 bytes, SHA-256 164e4e0518ec9bcd9369a658db645fb7e459ed768983bcb679001782d70f61c5. Verify the local file by reading it; a filename alone is not sufficient. This checksum does not apply to the ZIP, DMG or extracted app. Double-click the verified file, then move the extracted DBA Voice.app to Applications. No extra extraction app is needed, but unpacking takes longer than the ZIP. For a different format or version, check the official information for that release first.
- The existing ZIP release is DBA-Voice-Mac.zip, 1498786911 bytes, SHA-256 74114f85770c79a9fb8f9d7d155a51b34d6a225ba6357affcc989aa5e24a2e17. If I already have this ZIP, verify it by reading it, open it, and move DBA Voice.app to Applications. There is no need to download the lightweight archive as well.
- The published DMG is DBA-Voice-Mac.dmg, 1425636185 bytes, SHA-256 006565c29af4472dc16fbd90a433de47904005c8692a1c4f059f9c7606a3495d. If I already have this DMG, verify it against these values, open it, and move DBA Voice.app to Applications. Do not download another format as well. The lightweight archive, ZIP and DMG contain the same app and model.
- If only the extracted app is present, ask where I obtained it. Read its Info.plist to confirm version 0.13.4 and build 38. Verify the target app with codesign --verify --deep --strict. Its read-only codesign -dvvv output should show CDHash 3384b35cbf6fc88583f85427eb646774945d4497, Identifier jp.co.dbajapan.DBAVoice, and Authority DBA Voice Local Signing. This identifies this distributed app; report separately that the distribution file itself was not checked. It does not mean Apple notarized the app, and passing Gatekeeper assessment is not a requirement. If you cannot verify it with the available tools or information, explain the limitation instead of automatically downloading another copy.
- Download the official lightweight archive (.tar.xz) only if neither the app nor a distribution file is present. Double-click the verified file and place the extracted DBA Voice.app in Applications using Finder. Reuse the same distributed version if it is already there. If another version is present, explain the situation instead of deleting or replacing it. Hand any macOS authentication dialog to me.
- This release includes the speech recognition model. Do not download or replace it with another model.

First launch warning
- This early release is not notarized by Apple. Follow Apple's official guidance at https://support.apple.com/en-us/102445 and the macOS 26 guide at https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/mh40617/26/mac/26 . Read the exact warning. Do not decide from a Not Opened heading alone: confirm that the body concerns Apple's inability to verify whether the app contains malware.
- Once the official distribution has been verified, open DBA Voice from Applications on this Mac and choose Done on the matching warning. Immediately open System Settings → Privacy & Security and scroll the right pane down to Security. Use the Open → Open Anyway controls specific to DBA Voice. Some versions show Open Anyway first, followed by Open in a confirmation. Follow the actual app name and buttons displayed. I will handle passwords and Touch ID.
- If Open or Open Anyway is missing, confirm that this is the Mac that showed the warning. Apple's macOS 26 guide says the button is available for about an hour after an attempt to open the app. Open DBA Voice from Applications on this Mac again, dismiss the warning with Done, then immediately check the lower part of the same settings pane. Restarting the Mac is not required for this procedure. Do not promise that merely reopening System Settings will fix it. Granting permission on another Mac does not help this Mac.
- If the controls are still missing, check only the warning text, app location and whether this is a managed Mac. Do not force settings changes. Explain the facts confirmed and the next place I need to check.
- If the warning instead says the app is damaged, modified, will damage the computer, or that malware was detected, or if a distribution checksum does not match, stop the opening procedure and report the exact message or mismatch. Do not use the same steps to bypass it.

Permissions and a real voice-input check
- After launch, allow only DBA Voice in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and Accessibility. The app also has buttons under its settings and permissions section that open these panes.
- If DBA Voice is absent from Microphone, inspect the app's permission guide and try its microphone test. If it is absent from Accessibility, use the add control to select DBA Voice in Applications. If macOS asks for the app to be reopened after a change, reopen only DBA Voice.
- Guide me to click a blank, unsent text field, such as a new note. Ask me to hold the right Option key, say「明日の会議は午後3時です」, then release the key. Confirm that text actually appears in the field. Do not erase existing text or send a message.
- If no text appears, check the app state, selected microphone, right Option setting, and both permissions in order. Distinguish text that exists only in the app's history from failure to record or recognize speech. Permissions being enabled is not proof that voice input worked.

Text processing choices
In the app's settings,「文字起こし後の整え方」has three modes:
1.「認識結果のまま」: keep the recognized text as it is.
2.「表記を整える」: remove Japanese fillers and tidy up notation such as kanji numerals.
3.「AIで言い直しを整える」: after text cleanup, the Mac's built-in AI tries to resolve clear spoken corrections. This is the default for this early release.
Saved replacement rules apply in all modes. These modes do not guarantee that speech-recognition errors will be corrected.
Mode 3 requires Apple Intelligence to be available on this Mac. Guide me to check its activation and preparation state in System Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri. If preparation is in progress, wait. Supported hardware, language and region conditions apply, and required data may still be downloading. Apple's macOS 26 guide is https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/mchl46361784/26/mac/26 . Do not change the OS or system language on your own. If the app says its built-in AI is unavailable, it falls back to basic text cleanup: do not report that AI processing is active.

Scope and completion report
- New cloud account registration is in preparation. Verify local voice input without registering. This request does not authorize creating an account, opting into text sharing, or sending data externally.
- Do not propose or perform system-wide security disabling, disabling spctl, removing xattrs, directly editing TCC, or running sudo. Do not delete DBA Voice or reset existing settings or history.
- Do not request passwords, verification codes, API keys, serial numbers or full debug reports. If a screenshot is needed, use only the relevant warning or settings area.
- Finish with a short account of what was actually verified on this Mac, the selected text mode and built-in AI state, and anything still unresolved. Do not claim setup is complete until a short sentence I speak has actually appeared as text.
